India vs England - Test Records At Chepauk Stadium

Chennai's M Chidambaram Stadium, popularly known as Chepauk, will host the opening two matches of the upcoming four-match Test series between India and England. Hosts India has a superb record against England in Chennai. During the tour, England is to play the opening two Tests at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The first Test will be played from 5th to 9th February, while the second Test is from 13th to 17th February.

India and England have played nine Test matches so far at Chennai's M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. Hosts India has won five, while England has won three. The match played in 1982 between the two teams resulted in a draw. 

India last played against England at Chepauk in 2016, when the hosts thumped the visitors by an innings and 75 runs. In that match, Karun Nair became the second Indian batsman to score a triple hundred after Virender Sehwag. 

 

England had made a score of 477 runs in the first innings with the help of Moeen Ali's 146 and Joe Root's 88. 

In reply, India declared their innings at 759/7, their highest test score.  For India, Nair scored an unbeaten 303, while KL Rahul got out on 199. England's team could only make 202 runs in the second innings. 

India has so far played a total of 32 Test matches at Chepauk Stadium, winning 14, lost six, and drawn 11. The match played against Australia in 1986 was a tie.
