At the match being played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, Lucknow Captian Kl Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first, after which Chennai posted a total of 210/7 in 20 overs. During this, Lucknow Super Giants lead pacer Avesh Khan was taken for plenty of runs. However, he made a brilliant comeback in his 3rd over.
Robin Uthappa, who came out to open the innings for Chennai Super Kings and took Lucknow bowlers head-on. Before getting dismissed Robin Uthappa scored 50 runs off just 27 balls. Moeen Ali also looked in good form and playing his first match of the season, the all-rounder smacked 35 runs off 22 balls. However, Avesh Khan followed up with his pace and speed and bowled Moeen Ali, sending him back to the pavilion. Avesh displayed excellent aggression throughout his spell.
