भारत के पूर्व हेड कोच रवि शास्त्री ने टू-टियर टेस्ट सिस्टम लागू करने का आह्वान किया
शास्त्री का यह बयान उस समय आया है जब भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बीच बॉक्सिंग डे टेस्ट में 5 दिनों के दौरान 3,73,691 दर्शक आए। यह ऑस्ट्रेलिया में किसी टेस्ट मैच का अब तक का सबसे ज्यादा देखा गया मैच बन गया। इससे पहले 1936/37 की एशेज सीरीज में 3,50,534 दर्शक आए थे।
रवि शास्त्री ने द ऑस्ट्रेलिया के लिए अपने कॉलम में लिखा, "लगभग एक सदी पुराने रिकॉर्ड को तोड़ना यह साबित करता है कि जब बेहतरीन टीमें खेलती हैं, तो क्रिकेट का सबसे कठिन और शानदार प्रारूप आज भी जिंदा है। यह अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषद (आईसीसी) को यह याद दिलाने जैसा है कि टेस्ट क्रिकेट को बचाने के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ टीमों को एक-दूसरे के खिलाफ खेलना चाहिए। अन्यथा यह सब बहुत उलझन भरा हो जाता है।
