फॉलोऑन मिलने के बाद श्रीलंका की टीम ने 9 विकेट के नुकसान पर 429 रन बनाकर दूसरी पारी घोषित की और दूसरी पारी में 216 रन की बढ़त बनाई। श्रीलंका के पारी घोषित होने के साथ ही दोनों टीमों के खिलाड़ियों ने हाथ मिलाए और मैच ड्रॉ करने का फैसला किया। 26 साल बाद ऐसा हुआ है जब फॉलोऑन देने के बाद भारतीय टीम के खिलाफ किसी टीम ने 200 से ज्यादा रन की बढ़त हासिल की है। साल 2000 में जिम्बाब्वे ने यह कमाल किया था।
