उनका टेस्ट डेब्यू जनवरी 1966 में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ एडिलेड में हुआ था। उस मैच में उन्होंने आठवें नंबर पर बल्लेबाजी करते हुए 64 गेंदों पर 43 रन बनाए थे और दूसरी पारी में दो विकेट भी लिए थे। ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने वह मैच एक पारी और नौ रन से जीत लिया था।
क्रिकेट ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने सोशल मीडिया पर कहा, "हम सभी कीथ स्टैकपोल के निधन से दुखी हैं। वह एक सच्चे विक्टोरियन और ऑस्ट्रेलियाई थे, जिन्होंने खेल को जज्बे, साहस और सम्मान के साथ खेला।"
