West Indies vs Australia 2022

The two-time World T20 champions West Indies are set to tour Australia in October & November-December for 2 T20Is and 2 test matches. While the T20Is will be played as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup, the two tests will be played under the World Test Championship. Cricket Australia confirmed the fixtures for this tour in May 2022. 

The series will start with two T20Is between Australia and West Indies - on October 5th and October 7th respectively. The two test matches will start on November 30 and December 8 respectively. Australia lost their last T20I series - against India in India by 2-1.

 However, Australia was missing key players - David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh & Marcus Stoinis, who are set to return against West Indies with the T20 World Cup in sight. 

Originally, this West Indies tour of India was scheduled to take place in October 2022. The original schedule was announced by Cricket Australia on May 28th, 2022, where these matches were scheduled in preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022. However, the World Cup was postponed until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Australia and West Indies have clashed against each other in 17 T20I matches, where the Caribbean team has had the upper hand. West Indies have won 10 out of 17 T20Is while Australia have managed to win 7 T20Is. 

Australia and West Indies have played 116 test matches between each other. Australia have had an upper hand in the longest format, winning 58 matches. West Indies have managed to win 32 tests against Australia. Out of these, 66 matches have been played between the two teams in Australia, where the hosts have won 37 matches while West Indies have registered wins in 18 matches.
