गुरुवार(18 सितंबर) को अबू धाबी के शेख जायद स्टेडियम में अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ खेले जा रहे एशिया कप 2025 के ग्रुप-बी के आखिरी लीग मैच में कुसल परेरा का अद्भुत कैच सुर्खियों में रहा। अफगानिस्तान की पारी के 11वें ओवर में दरविश रसूली ने थर्ड मैन की दिशा में बड़ा शॉट खेला। परेरा बाउंड्री लाइन के ठीक अंदर खड़े थे। उन्होंने हवा में छलांग लगाकर गेंद को पकड़ा, लेकिन जैसे ही उन्हें अहसास हुआ कि वह बॉउंड्री के बाहर जा सकते हैं, उन्होंने गेंद को अंदर फेंका और फिर खुद दोबारा अंदर आकर कैच पूरा किया।
