मदन लाल: भारत के दिग्गज ऑलराउंडर, जिन्होंने फेंकी वर्ल्ड कप इतिहास की पहली गेंद
Madan Lal: पूर्व भारतीय ऑलराउंडर मदन लाल ने 1970–80 के दशक में भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के लिए अहम भूमिका निभाई। मध्यम गति के गेंदबाज और उपयोगी बल्लेबाज मदन लाल का विश्व कप 1983 की जीत में योगदान यादगार रहा, जिन्होंने खिताबी मैच में 12 ओवर गेंदबाजी करते हुए महज 31 रन देकर 3 विकेट निकाले थे। इनके नाम क्रिकेट वर्ल्ड कप इतिहास की पहली गेंद फेंकने का रिकॉर्ड भी है।
20 मार्च 1951 को अमृतसर में जन्मे मदन लाल ने घरेलू सर्किट में शानदार प्रदर्शन के साथ भारतीय टीम में जगह बनाई। जून 1974 में उन्हें भारतीय टीम में स्थान मिला।
मदन लाल ने साल 1974 में तीन टेस्ट मैच खेले, जिसमें 7 विकेट हासिल किए। अगले साल उन्हें सिर्फ 1 ही मैच खेलने का मौका मिला। साल 1976 और 1977 में मदन लाल ने कुल 12 टेस्ट खेले, जिसमें 22 विकेट निकाले, लेकिन इसके बाद काफी समय तक टीम से बाहर रहना पड़ा।
