12 फरवरी, बुधवार को कराची के नेशनल स्टेडियम में त्रिकोणीय सीरीज़ के तीसरे मैच में पाकिस्तान के स्टार तेज़ गेंदबाज़ शाहीन अफरीदी और साउथ अफ्रीका के बैटर मैथ्यू ब्रीट्ज़के के बीच तीखी बहस हुई। साउथ अफ्रीका के कप्तान टेन्बा बवुमा ने टॉस जीतकर पहले बैटिंग का फैसला किया, क्योंकि उनकी टीम के लिए यह मैच जीतना जरूरी था। बवुमा और ब्रीट्ज़के ने शानदार शुरुआत की, लेकिन अफरीदी ने जल्दी ही साउथ अफ्रीका को पहला झटका दिया, जब उन्होंने टोनी डी ज़ोर्ज़ी को सलमान आगा के हाथों कैच कराया।
