गुवाहाटी के बाहरी इलाके में बने जिस बरसापारा स्टेडियम का 2012 में उद्घाटन हुआ, वहां भारत-साउथ अफ्रीका टेस्ट, असम स्टेट के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक शुरुआत है। यह नॉर्थ-ईस्ट का पहला टेस्ट वेन्यू है जहां टेस्ट खेल रहे हैं। आईपीएल और आईसीसी महिला वर्ल्ड कप मैच देखने के बाद, अब वहां के क्रिकेट प्रेमी असली क्रिकेट का मजा लेंगे।
