ஐபிஎல் 17ஆவது சீசன் அடுத்த ஆண்டு மார்ச் இறுதியில் தொடங்கி மே மாதம் வரை நடைபெற உள்ளது. இதையொட்டி 10 அணிகளிலும் கழற்றி விடப்பட்ட மற்றும் விலகிய வீரர்களுக்கு பதிலாக மாற்று வீரர்களை எடுப்பதற்கான ஏலம் துபாயில் நேற்று நடந்தது. வெளிநாட்டில் அரங்கேறிய முதல் ஐபிஎல் ஏலம் இதுதான். 10 அணிகளுக்கும் சேர்த்து அதிகபட்சமாக 30 வெளிநாட்டவர் உள்பட 77 இடங்களை நிரப்ப வேண்டி இருந்தது.
ஏலப்பட்டியலில் 119 வெளிநாட்டு வீரர்கள் உள்பட மொத்தம் 333 பேர் இடம் பிடித்திருந்தனர். ஏலத்தை மும்பையைச் சேர்ந்த மல்லிகா சாகர் நடத்தினார். அண்மையில் இந்தியாவில் நடந்த உலகக்கோப்பை கிரிக்கெட்டில் கலக்கிய வீரர்களை வாங்குவதில்தான் அணிகள் ஆர்வம் காட்டின. அதேசமயம் விக்கெட் கீப்பர் மற்றும் சுழற்பந்து வீச்சாளர்களை பெரிய அளவில் கண்டு கொள்ளவில்லை.
