मार्टिन गुप्टिल को टी-20 वर्ल्ड कप के बाद भारत के खिलाफ सीरीज में भी मौका नहीं दिया गया और अब उनको लेकर एक बड़ी खबर सामने आ रही है। कीवी क्रिकेट बोर्ड ने गुप्टिल के साथ सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रैक्ट खत्म कर दिया है। न्यूजीलैंड क्रिकेट (NZC) ने बुधवार (23 नवंबर) को इस खबर की पुष्टि की है। ये अनुरोध गुप्टिल द्वारा ही किया गया था ताकि वो कहीं और बाकी लीग्स में खेल सकें।
न्यूज़ीलैंड क्रिकेट ने एक विज्ञप्ति में घोषणा की, "न्यूज़ीलैंड क्रिकेट के साथ विचार-विमर्श के बाद, ये सहमति हुई कि रिलीज के लिए गुप्टिल के अनुरोध को तत्काल प्रभाव से स्वीकार किया जाना चाहिए।न्यूज़ीलैंड क्रिकेट ने उसे स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि वो चयन के लिए पात्र रहेगा लेकिन उन खिलाड़ियों को प्राथमिकता दी जाएगी जिनके पास केंद्रीय या घरेलू अनुबंध हैं।"
