ICC World Test Championship: Fast-bowler Avesh Khan has been added to India's squad for the second Test against South Africa, which starts on January 3 at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) added that Avesh will be in the squad as a replacement for injured senior pacer Mohammed Shami. He will now be bolstering the Indian pace attack ahead of the New Year’s Test at Cape Town, with the visitors’ now 1-0 behind in the two-game series.
Avesh, who plays for Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket, is currently turning out for India ‘A’ in the four-day match against South Africa ‘A’ at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni, where he picked 5/54 in 23.3 overs, including five maidens, at an economy rate of 2.3.
