    Chinnaswamy Stampede: Siddaramaiah Announces Suspension Of B'luru Police Commissioner; New Top Cop Appointed (Ld)

    Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced the suspension of five senior police officers, including the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and DCP (Central Division) in connection with the to stampede incident near the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on June 4 which resulted in the death of at least 11 people.

    The government has also appointed a new Police Commissioner for Bengaluru city.

    An order stated: “On June 4, there was a stampede during the victory celebrations of RCB in Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Eleven people have died and more than 50 people have been injured. A Magisterial enquiry has been ordered under Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Bengaluru Urban District, Bengaluru for giving his report within 15 days.”
